OUR STORY

BORN ON THE FRONTLINES

Search Grounds started in urban search and rescue deployments — where grueling work, harsh environments, and high-stress teams need more than endurance. They need connection. A shared cafecito became the ritual that made the mission easier.

FOUNDER

Miguel A. Ferrer

As a medical specialist on urban search and rescue deployments, Miguel Ferrer saw firsthand how a simple ritual could change the tone of a mission. Brewing Cuban coffee in the middle of chaos wasn’t a luxury — it was a tool.

A shared shot of cafecito brought people together, eased tension, and created moments of camaraderie in environments where every minute counts. Medical check-ins became smoother. Team members opened up. It became a subtle, effective way to gauge mental health in those critical first 72 hours.

What started as an improvised solution in the field became Search Grounds — full Cuban coffee kits designed for responders who need comfort, connection, and community when the work gets hardest.

“Bringing good coffee to bad places.”

THE RITUAL

More than a drink

In the first 72 hours of a deployment, morale and mental readiness matter as much as equipment. A strong cafecito creates the pause teams need to reconnect.

Connection

Shared brewing breaks down barriers between crews, agencies, and shifts — turning a stressful staging area into a place people actually talk.

Morale

A hot, strong cafecito is a small comfort that signals someone cared enough to bring real coffee to a bad place.

Readiness

The ritual creates natural check-in moments — a low-pressure way to see how your people are holding up when the mission is heavy.

THE KIT

Field-ready Cuban coffee

Our 72-hour Cuban coffee kit is a complete, self-contained brewing rig. No kitchen, no cafe, no problem — just add water and power and your crew gets a real cafecito in the worst conditions.
